FAQ’s
Do I need a referral from my GP?
One of the great benefits of attending counselling is that you don’t need a referral from a GP. You also do not have to have a mental health care plan to access counselling services, so you are not limited to a set number of sessions. Fees are not claimable by Medicare.
If you require more specialised care that is outside my scope of practice, I may refer you on to another practitioner with specific training in that area.
How many sessions will I need?
This will depend on quite a number of factors. The first session is a chance for us to explore your reasons for seeking counselling and understanding the scope of the problem. Together we will devise a plan for the number of sessions that will be the most beneficial and that fits in with your desired outcome.
Meaningful change doesn’t happen overnight, it takes patience and time.
Do you offer in-person sessions for counselling and/or decluttering?
At this point in time, Meaningful Change Counselling offers online sessions only for those residing in Australia. Recent research consistently shows that people who access therapy delivered online receive the same level of assistance and outcomes as they do when attending in-person sessions. You can get all the benefits of working with a counsellor, without leaving home.
